Max Eggimann was born and raised in a small Swiss hamlet near Bern Switzerland. His father was a baker and he apprenticed in the traditional Swiss manner... balancing baking school lessons with hands on experience. Max worked hard and acheived the prestigious designation of Master Swiss baker. In 1969 Max immigrated to the United States joining his brother in California.
Max and Lynda (his wife) ran Café Max, a Swiss Bakery in a small town in the mountains of California for 30 years. Café Max appeared on local television channels 10 and 6. Café Max was also featured in the Sacramento Bee, the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle and chosen as one of the top 10 bakeries in the United States by “Retail Bakery” Magazine.
In 1984 Lynda made a cake decorating video for Time Warner Magazine, and demonstrated Wedding Cake design at the Bakery & Confectionary National Convention. Café Max was FAMOUS for Artisan Brick Oven breads, rich truffle cakes, fine Swiss Pastries and friendly service.
Max now lives in the mountains of Idaho and continues to make candies and sweets for friends and family. His specialty is candy making.
